Velocity Settings

All Boxes are set to a maximum velocity sensitivity in order to achieve the greatest dynamic range. This gives you an opportunity to set levels very accurate when triggering loops via MIDI notes in a sequencer.

But it can be a problem to trigger the loops correctly by hand, using a MIDI keyboard. Simply becuase it is very hard to hit the keys with such precision.

The way to solve this is to disable the velocity sensitivity in the soft sampler. Once you have done that, you can set the levels for the individual loops manually.
Now all loops will playback at the predetermined level no matter how hard or soft you actually hit the keys.

Below is a detailed description for each of the soft samplers we provide program files for.

Native Instruments - Kontakt

Please follow this procedure to disable the velocity sensitivity if you are using Native Instruments "Kontakt" soft sampler.

1) Click on the "Edit" button to the left on the Kontakt instrument.

2) Now click on the "Mod" button in the "Amplifier" section. A row with a horizontal slider will open. The slider will be set to "100", giving you maximum velocity sensitivity, and the most dynamic feel.

3) Simply drag the slider to center until the value is "0". This way you will get a fixed velocity, offering no dynamics at all.

Kontakt actually offer negative velocity settings, meaning that you can drag the slider all the way to the left. The velocity value will be "-100", which results in a decrease in volume as you hit the keys harder and harder!

Steinberg - HALion

Please follow this procedure to disable the velocity sensitivity if you are using Steinberg´s "HALion" soft sampler.

1) First click on the "Macro" button on the HALion interface.

2) Now locate the "Amplifier" section in the upper right side of the window. As you can see the velocity is set to "100%", giving a maximum of velocity sensitivity and dynamics.

3) If you turn the velocity button all the way down to "0%", you will disable the velocity sensitivity.

Emagic/Apple - EXS24

Please follow this procedure to disable the velocity sensitivity if you are using Emagic/Apple´s "EXS24" soft sampler.

1) Locate the "Level" section in the upper right corner of the edit window. Under the slider you can see the "via Vel", meaning that you set the velocity sensitivity by adjusting this vertical slider. As you can see the velocity sensitivity is set to a maximum, giving the most dynamic experience.

2) Now drag the bottom half of the slider all the way up. This way you disable the velocity sensitivity.

Propellerheads - NN-XT

Please follow this procedure to disable the velocity sensitivity if you are using Propellerheads "Reason" software including the "NN-XT" soft sampler.

1) Locate the Velocity section on the left side of the NN-XT user interface. As you can see, we has set it up giving max velocity sensitivity as default.

2) Now set the "Level" button in the velocity section to a "12 o´clock" position. This way you disable the velocity sensitivity. NN-XT also offer negtive velocity values like Native Instruments "Kontakt". Meaning that you get the opposite effect; the harder you hit the keys, the lower the volume!
