Q:    I have signed up for the free newsletter, but I have not got any ?

A:
The Newsletter is sent every Friday or Saturday, depending on your location. If you sign up during the week we will send you the latest issue, but it may not happen instantly. Please have patience.

If nothing happens for more than a day or two, or you don´t have it by Saturday something is wrong. Our weekly newsletter may be considered as spam by some mail clients and applications. If you use one of the free online mail services, such as Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail etc. please take a look in your "Junk" or "Bulk" folder. If you find it there you should just mark it as "Not Spam" to have future  newsletters delivered directly to your inbox.

The same thing can happen if you use Outlook, Outlook Express, Mail (Mac OS X) or another e-mail application. Again, simply check your "Junk" folder and mark as "Not Spam". [Menu]

Q:    The different loops and samples sometimes have different lenghts. Why?

A:
There can be 1 - 8-bar loops in the different boxes; and often a mix. Say, there is a LoopBox with an FX loop that only plays once during 4 bars. Or if the drum loop is a 1 bar loop playing 4 times, or 3 times with a fill or variation in the fourth bar.

We decided to cut away all "empty silence", and repetition to keep download sizes reasonably. Of course we could have kept all samples and loops at the same length, and maybe some would have had a feeling of getting a better value for money thanks to the larger file sizes. However, not all have a broadband connection to the internet, and even with today´s massive hard disks we feel that unnecessary data is a waste. [Menu]

Q:    When I import the MIDI file and start playback it sounds odd and out of time?

A:
Make sure that you have set the host sequencer´s tempo to match the loops you´ve loaded. Otherwise the groove will sound right only at the beginning, and will not loop correctly.

Q:    When I trigger loops by MIDI notes I hear an odd noise at the end of the sample. What´s wrong?

A:
If the MIDI note is at the same length as the loop the "release note" message is sent at the same time the audio loop actually starts to play from the beginning again.

Try to shorten the MIDI note; zoom as much as possible, and drag the end of the MIDI note just a tiny bit to the left. Make sure you are not dragging the entire note so you also change the starting point. If that´s not enough try a bit more until it disappears. This will not affect the way it sounds when the sample loops.

Alternatively, you can change the loop setting in your soft sampler. By default the loops in these products are set to "loop until release". This was decided because we wanted a quick and easy way to audition the loops: simply by pressing and holding single or several keys on a MIDI keyboard. If you change the setting it should be set to "Off", "No Loop" or similar.

Q:    If I release the key while listening to a "MysteryBox" product the sound get cut off instantly. Is there a way to change that?

A:
Yes. Simply raise the "Release Setting" in your soft sampler. Most loops works best with a very low release setting, but soundscapes often works better with a relatively long release time.

Q:    When I trigger the loops manually the levels are wrong?

A:
As you can see if you open one of the MIDI files included, the notes triggering the individual samples and loops has different velocity values, and therefore different colours.

This is because we wanted to be able to playback a loop that was intended to be low-level but also to use the available headroom in the recording situation. If we had decided to just record it at a very low level, noise could appear if you boosted the signal afterwards.

Even if we intended a certain loop or sample to be rather quiet, some users might find that particular loop or sample useful in a totally different context, and at much higher level.

The solution is to do a little mixing (actually just a little level adjusting) yourself before using the loops for manual triggering, e.g. in a live situation.

We suggest that you deactivate the velocity sensitivity in the software sampler; this way all loops will playback at a predetermined level no matter how hard or soft you actually hit the keys. Now set the levels of the individual loops and samples as you prefer in the soft sampler.

Q:    My software sampler can´t find the samples when I try to load a ”theloopbox.com” product. What´s wrong?

A:
This can occur, especially if you have separated the "Sample Content" folder from the program file folders, but all you have to do is to point your soft sampler to the new location of this folder.

The same will probably happen if you decide to change the location of the loops and samples at a later point, and the solution is the same.

Some soft samplers automatically scans the availables drives for the samples, and some even remember the new location. But other soft samplers will need a little help.

Please see your soft sampler manual for details. [Menu]

Q:    My "Kontakt" soft sampler will not open the program file. What´s wrong?

A:
The Kontakt program files were created using version 1.5.3, so you must update your Kontakt version to this or above. Please visit
Native Instruments for the latest updates. [Menu]

Q:    The different products sometimes have different output levels. Why?

A:
Some sample based products are made as almost finished productions, complete with effects and some even mastered. This is useful in a number of situations, but not all. We want the construction kit products to be rough sketches with some quick level settings from our part; we didn´t spend weeks mixing and mastering every single product.

Consider these products as a part of a recording session that has been roughly mixed, but before hitting the actual mixing and mastering stage. It is at the mastering stage the overall level is being "pumped" up to 0 dB. Since we didn´t master, the levels will differ slightly. [Menu]
