The software links has also been divided into several sub categories. We decided to use the term DAW, which means Digital Audio Workstation because it is becoming a widely used term, that actually covers it pretty well. Still, many prefers MIDI+Audio sequencer, MIDI/Audio sequencer or simply a software sequencer.

All the DAW´s of today are multi functional and capable of handling audio as well as MIDI, and in most cases even notation of musical scores. However, there are some applications focusing strictly on music notation, and often these are the best for this task, which is why we have made a dedicated Notation Software category.
