The MysteryBoxes are weird and wonderful soundscapes. Some with a floating and ambient quality, others with a pulsating and more rhythmic approach. Each MysteryBox contains 3-4 samples. The reason for this relatively low number is that each sample is much longer than the typical 1-4 bar loop. As you will discover the download package is actually bigger than the average LoopBox.

On top of that, you get 4-5 different program files with each MysteryBox. One, for Instance named: "MysteryBox 1", which contains all the samples mapped from the C1 key using the white keys only. This way you can audition all samples at their original pitch and speed.

The example below, shows a typical MysteryBox keymap.

 

The additional program files are named after the Individual samples. For Instance "MB11": MysteryBox #1 / sample #1 etc.

In these programs the original sample is mapped to the C3 key, and the key range is extended to the maximum C-2 to G8. Since no pitchshift or timestrech is Involved the samples will get higher pitched, and shorter in time as you hit the keys above C3. And lower pitched, and longer In time as you hit the keys below C3.

Now try to mess around with the sample. A nice calm and ambient sound can get dark and almost evil in character when played an octave lower than intended, or shrill and stressful when played 2 or 3 octaves above! Try it out for yourself; fun is guaranteed.

In most of the other boxes the original sample/loop is tied to a single key, but you could just as easy get creative messing with the root keys and key ranges on other types of samples.

The velocity range is set to a maximum in order to get the best dynamic experience. The release settings are untouched, and therefore the sound will disappear as soon as you release the key. In some cases soundscapes are more playable with a longer release time. But it is very easy to change the release time manually.

The demos shows how the soundscapes can work in a musical context, in this case coupled with the "BeatBox" products. The two products are not related in any ways, and works 100% independently too, of course.
