The Double Loop
In the next example we will show you how to use the double loop trick. The idea is to have two loops playing at the same time but triggered at different points, and maybe at different velocity values. In this particular case, taken from the "Moodswing, Part 2" LoopBox, we use the main drum loop and a slight variation of that loop. You could use a single drum loop and achieve great results as well. All you would have to do is to make a copy of the loop, and assign it to a separate key. The two loops are being triggered by the lowest midi notes. In the 4th bar the variation of the beat is triggered at the beginning of the bar, and the main loop is triggered a bit later (two 24th of a note in this case). Note how the velocity is lowered for the main beat. In the bars 6 and 8 the same thing happens. In this case we wanted to bring the effect of a "busy" beat to the surface, but you should always try to play with the velocity value settings of the loops. Often a very low velocity setting will add a less audible effect, and rather sound like a delay effect, which is exactly what it is if you use a copy.
