(Ab)using Loops Generally

This example shows how you can use the previous idea for any loops, not just drum loops. The material is taken from the "Funky Acid 9" LoopBox.

The screenshot below shows the second version.

The upper part, playing only at the beginning is the Tremolo Guitar, and the middle part is the second guitar loop. The two lowest parts are the drum loops.

In this re-arranged version, the beat is moved from its original position. As you can see it is moved first by an 8th note and then by a 16th.

Note the little midi note in the middle of bar 2, that’s another clever way to alter the original groove. Most drum loops start with a kick drum on the first beat meaning that you can easily throw in a kick at any given time.

Now, the middle guitar loop is actually very interesting since it is playing for almost 3 bars without being stopped or re-triggered. Only was this loop triggered one 16th before it was originally intended.

Please click
here to hear the difference it makes to adjust a few parts slightly.
