(Ab)using Looped Beats
In this example we have a 4-bar drum loop and a 4-bar bass loop from the "Jazzy & Groovy 1" LoopBox. There´s also two Rhodes parts.

Please click here to hear the original groove: The beat and bass follows tightly.
Then study the MIDI file below to find out how much you can do creatively when messing around with just one of the loops! The bass loop is triggered by the upper midi note, and playing all the way through without any changes. As you can see the drum loop (triggered by the lower midi notes) never plays for more than 2 or 3 beats of a bar before being re-triggered. The drums now play a lot "around" the bass, which gives it a more funky feeling than the original groove.
Please click here to hear the 2nd version of the groove.
Remember that the drum loop always plays from the beginning. If you import the raw audio file, and cut it into pieces many new possibilities arise. But more on that later.
